YAC Exhibit at Casa Gutierrez: Animated Antics

Artists from Youth Arts Collective take center stage in Animated Antics , an exhibit of their lively animated and illustrated work at Casa Gutierrez, 590 Calle Principal. The gallery is free and open to the public Saturdays and Sundays, 11am-4pm, through October 20.

Dive into worlds where anthropomorphic animals sport braces with style, H.G. Wells-inspired extraterrestrials crash land, love blossoms between a wolf and a deer, and more.

The Pearl Works: Call for Art - Deadline September 19

The Pearl Works, located at 288 Pearl Street, is seeking art for their next show, Resonance , a juried exhibition of two-dimensional work by emerging artists from around Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties addressing the theme of resonance.

Community Emergency Response Training, Fall 2024

Learn how to be to be self-sufficient and support others in a disaster until help can arrive! The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program provides community members with important skills that are essential in an emergency.

The next CERT training is scheduled in Downtown Old Monterey, 8am-5:30pm, on the following Saturdays: 9/21, 9/28, & 10/5. Training is free and open to all Monterey residents! Learn more here.

Join the City of Monterey in celebrating the opening of the Pat Hathaway Memorial Exhibition on Thursday, August 29, 5pm-7pm at Colton Hall Museum. Free and open to the public.

This exhibit celebrates the life and photo collection of the late Pat Hathaway, featuring historical images of Monterey, c.1870-1950, collected and preserved by Pat over the course of 50 years. The exhibit will run through Sept 29.

School Supply Drive at Johnny Wicks Candle Studio

Through August 10, Johnny Wicks Candle Studio is holding a School Supply Drive for local foster kids.

We're seeking donations of: backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, markers, crayons, binders, folders, new clothing (all sizes), shoes and socks, personal hygiene products, and lunch pails.

Donations can be dropped off 12pm-5pm daily at Johnny Wicks Candle Studio, 499 Calle Principal, Suite H, or you can make a financial donation here.

No Fireworks Allowed in Monterey

The City of Monterey asks that you reduce the risk of wildfire by not using fireworks when celebrating the 4th of July. In the City you may be subject to a $1000 fine if you are caught using any type of fireworks (including those marked as "safe and sane"). Thank you for enjoying the holiday responsibly and safely.

NARCAN Now Boxes in Monterey Provide Free Access to Naloxone

The City of Monterey, in partnership with the Central Coast Overdose Prevention Coalition , has installed NARCAN Now Boxes to provide free access to the lifesaving opiate overdose reversal medicine Naloxone.

These bright blue NARCAN Now Boxes have been placed at Monterey Transit Plaza (500 Tyler Street), Monterey Police Department (351 Madison Street), and the Monterey Outreach and Navigation Center (401 Camino El Estero).

Naloxone has no effect on someone who does not have opioids in their system, but for someone who is experiencing an opiod overdose, it can prevent death.

Monterey Trolley Returns on May 25, 2024

The Monterey trolley is returning! This free service will operate May 25 - September 2, 10am-6pm daily. Trolleys run every 10-15 minutes. Look for the green MST Trolley signs to board along the route .

Park in the Downtown Monterey Garage (340 Tyler) or the Cannery Row Garage (601 Foam) and get a free ride to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, the Lighthouse District, Downtown Old Monterey, and Old Fisherman's Wharf.
