Slowfiber: Sewing Lessons for the Adult Beginner and Their Machine

Wednesday, September 18, 2024 - 5:30pm

Slowfiber presents Sewing Lessons for the Adult Beginner and Their Sewing Machine on Wednesdays, 5:30pm-7:30pm, September 18 - October 9. Space is limited - please register online. Fee is $120.

About the Class

This class is designed for beginners or those who haven't sewn in a long time and want to relearn. You choose your project with the help of Slowfiber's owner, Jaki Canterbury. Be sure your machine is tuned up in advance.

Class Sessions

Session 1 begins with your machine and your tools - how it all works and what you can do with it. We will plot and scheme and get versed in how and what we need to make something for the first time. Think: bag, pillow cover, napkins.

In Session 2, we learn about the different ways to construct a seam you can be proud of and then design your project.

In Sessions 3 & 4, we copy or plot a pattern (usually a simple bag design), cut fabric, prepare the sewing, and finish the piece. A truly rewarding experience with lots of proud moments! By the end you will have finished your first one-of-a-kind sewing project.
