Monterey Public Library Reopens for Pick-up Only

The Monterey Public Library is reopening on Thursday, June 11 for grab-and-go pick-up of books placed on hold. Pick-up hours will be Tuesday - Saturday, 11am-6pm.

How will you know when your book is ready? You'll receive notification via e-mail. Then come on down, bring your library card, wear a face mask ( be a hero! ), and practice social distancing while you pick-up your book at the curb.

Red's Donuts in Monterey Reopens

Red's Donuts in Downtown Old Monterey has reopened for take-out! Our hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 6am-12pm. Come visit us at 433 Alvarado Street and enjoy a taste of Monterey history that'll make your mouth water.

Be sure to wear a mask and keep 6 feet apart from other customers or there will be no fresh, delicious donuts for you.

Old Capitol Books Moving Sale - Buy a Banker Box of Books for $40

Old Capitol Books is unable to pay the rent on our current building at 559 Tyler Street and we have to move quickly. We're not certain where our new space will be, but we're confident that we'll find one soon.

Cafe Lumiere Reopens

Cafe Lumiere, home of delicious breakfast and lunch dishes, cookies, pastries, and beverages hot and cold, has reopened! We're serving take-out, delivery, and curbside pick-up.

Located at 365 Calle Principal, we're open daily, 9am-3pm. 100% of the revenue we make this week and next week will be donated directly to Campaign Zero and the Bail Fund.

Update: Hair Salons, Shops, and Restaurants in Old Monterey

This weekend, Monterey County Health Department lifted some business restrictions. Hair salons and barbershops are now open for business, in-store shopping is now permitted at retail stores, and restaurants are now permitted to offer dine-in services.

That said, many businesses continue to offer low-to-no contact options for customers. Most restaurants continue to offer take-out, curbside pickup, and delivery, while many retail stores welcome orders online and over the phone along with curbside pickup, delivery, and shipping.

We will continue to update the Old Monterey Dining Guide and the Old Monterey SIP Mall in the days and weeks to come to reflect the latest information.

A reminder: the Old Monterey Business Association has canceled the 2020 Old Monterey 4th of July Parade due to the prohibition of large group gatherings during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Paid Parking Resumes in Monterey on June 1, 2020

Because of Monterey County's Covid-19 shelter-in-place order, the City of Monterey's Parking Division temporarily suspended paid parking. Please note that, on June 1, 2020, paid parking resumes and will be fully enforced.

The Parking Division encourages people who use the lots and garages to download the ParkMobile app for a quick and convenient payment method that makes it easy to maintain physical distancing.
