Quilt Square of the Month Club Begins at Slowfiber

This event has already passed

Patience, Bonnie, Lola, Sarah...these are all names of individual quilt squares you'll learn to make in Slowfiber's Quilt Square of the Month Club for beginning quilters. Classes begin on Wednesday, February 22, 10:30am-1:30pm, and continue monthly through May. Fee is $200 for the series - please register on our website.

If you are new to quilting or just need some help with the minutiae of machine piecing then get in here! Now is the time to build (or rebuild) good habits just like Grandma and Auntie have.

Six inch quilt blocks will be standard and we will be stacking skills from month to month. If you attend this series of four classes and our next series of four classes in the fall, by the end of the year you will know how to use squares, rectangles, triangles and how to combine and mix them up.

We will use the book, The Farmer's Wife, 1930's Sampler Quilt, by Laurie Aaron Hird, a collection of inspiring letters from the publication The Farmer's Wife featuring women of the Great Depression and 99 quilt blocks that honor them. This book is an encyclopedia of traditional piecing with lots of help built in.
