PARIS TO PITTSBURG
Tues at 7pm

From coastal cities to the U.S. heartland, this documentary celebrates how citizens are demanding and developing real solutions in the face of climate change. And as the weather grows more deadly and destructive, they aren't waiting on Washington to act. Lacey Raak, Director of Sustainability at CSUMB, will be present at this evening's screening. DRUNK PARENTS
Daily at 3pm, 6:30pm

Meet Frank and Nancy Teagarten: the staunchly lower upper-class family. They’re anxiously dropping off their daughter at her first day of college, and the two parents couldn’t be prouder. However, a visit by the repo man shortly thereafter leaves them scrambling to make ends meet and their wealth, it seems, is less secure than we thought. Committed to getting their daughter through college, they hold a house-wide yard-sale coupled by a night of heavy drinking and wake up to some very regrettable decisions. Watch the trailer.

PETERLOO

In 1819, more than 60,000 protestors gathered at St. Peter’s field in Manchester, England to demand democracy as well as political reform to stem the rising tide of poverty. When government forces intervened and massacre ensued, many were killed and hundreds more were injured. Watch the trailer.

AMAZING GRACE

This concert documentary captures the legendary artist Aretha Franklin in her prime, performing at New Bethel Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles. Accompanied by the Southern California Community Choir, under James Cleveland’s direction Amazing Grace pays testimony to this extraordinary musician's towering and singular talent. When sub-zero temperatures reach downtown Cincinnati, patrons of the public library - many of them homeless or mentally ill - stage a sit-in, refusing to leave the library and face the dangerously inclement weather. The situation evolves into a stand-off with the local authorities as the media and public watch on. The provocative story and excellent cast tackle important social issues such as poverty, mental illness, and the commodification of news media. Watch the trailer.

TRANSIT

Assuming the identity of a deceased author, Georg flees Nazi occupied France during World War II. When he is delayed in Marseilles he meets a woman desperately seeking her missing husband, the very man whose identity Georg has stolen. Transit is the third entry in Petzold’s “Love in Times of Oppressive Systems” trilogy, following his films Barbara and Phoenix. Watch the trailer.

THE MUSTANG

Roman Coleman, a convict in a rural Nevada prison who struggles to escape his violent past, is required to participate in an “outdoor maintenance” program as part of his state-mandated social rehabilitation. Spotted by a no-nonsense veteran trainer and helped by an outgoing fellow inmate and trick rider, Roman is accepted into the selective wild horse training section of the program. There, he rediscovers his own humanity in gentling an especially unbreakable mustang. Watch the trailer.
