Slowfiber Workshop: Making Sun Prints on Garments and Fabric

This event has already passed

Slowfiber presents a workshop on sun printing on garments and fabric taught by Evelyn Klein. This is a two-part class: on Friday, November 11 and Friday, November 18, 10am-12pm. Fee is $75. Please register on the Slowfiber website.

This course is open to all skill levels, but you must be at least 16 years old. In the course, Evelyn will take you through the formal steps of the cyanotype process. On the first class, you'll coat the fabric with a cyanotype solution in a low-lit room and we let it dry in the dark. In the second class, you'll create your lay-out, expose it to UV light for a specific time, rinse, and allow it to dry.

Using this color-fast process you can bring tired or unworn clothes back to life or add beautiful designs to new garments or plain fabric. (You can also consider making patches for your jeans or a pocket to add to a bag or tunic.)

Please note: Masks are recommended but not required and we want to see your Covid vaccine card.
