Yes, Santa’s Workshop Is right here in Old Monterey – at the Joseph Boston Store! The Joseph Boston Store, a California Historic Landmark run by the non-profit Historic Garden League, is not only recognized for its 1850’s themed merchandise (honoring its status as the first General Store in Monterey) but also for its complete transformation for the holidays. Volunteers spend days preparing the store with stunning Victorian, vintage, and one-of-a-kind items.

This year, the store has expanded its offerings to include artisan products from Monterey County residents including jams, honey and tomatoes from Happy Girl Kitchen, Elderberry syrups and cordials from Carmel Berry Co.; teas from Chai Five Tea; olives, bread dippers, and chocolates from Gil’s Gourmet; specially made room sprays from Kimberli’s Garden Creations; and soaps from Big Sur Country Soaps.

The Joseph Boston Store, located at 210 Olivier Street behind the Pacific House and next door to Casa Del Oro Garden, is open Thursday – Sunday, 11am-3pm, for the holidays, in addition to 5pm-9pm on December 7 and 8 for Christmas in the Adobes. All proceeds are used to preserve and maintain the Historic Gardens of Old Monterey. Please note: we will be closed December 22, 2018 - January 16, 2019.

Pilates is becoming more popular than ever and the demand for qualified Pilates instructors is growing. Taught by Andrea Borgman-Quist, a Pilates Method Alliance (PMA) certified teacher, the 6 modules offer comprehensive training and preparation for the PMA Certification Exam.

The program consists of 450 hours of Pilates training in 6 modules which can be taken consecutively or individually. Students who successfully complete all six modules are eligible to take the PMA Pilates certification exam. Approximately only 15 teacher training schools in the state of California are approved by The Pilates Method Alliance. Pilates Monterey is currently the only school on the PMA Registry of Schools on the Central Coast.

We knew when Union Yoga was launched that if we were to offer a teacher training that it would have to be exceptional. It would have to be a deep dive of traditional methodology, philosophy and discipline and truly prepare individuals with the skills to teach (even beyond a yoga class). Noah Maze is known as the teacher of teachers offering some of the smartest and clearest programs available anywhere. He has a select group of teachers who offer the MazeMethod, carrying his name and specific guidelines for a stellar 200 hour program. We are honored and excited that Nichol Chase and Peach Friedman will be bringing this method to Union Yoga.
