It's the law, pardner : everyone over the age of 12 is required to wear a face covering over the nose and mouth when indoors and outdoors in Monterey's business districts (except when dining at a table). Fines from code enforcement officers begin at $100.

Plant Sales Return to Cooper Molera Adobe

Plant sales have returned to Cooper Molera Adobe! Once again, you can purchase plants that have been hand propagated from our gardens. Just visit the Cooper Molera Museum entrance Wed-Sun, 10am-4pm at 506 Munras Avenue.

One gallon pots cost $10; five gallon pots cost $25. Payments must be made by by cash or check - all proceeds benefit Cooper Molera. Masks and social distancing required.

In addition to great organic, locally-roasted fresh coffee drinks, East Village Cafe at 498 Washington Street makes authentic chai, brewed every morning from scratch. It features five spices - cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and ginger - plus one seasonal spice.

Online Magazine Collage Workshop from YAC

As a gift to the community, Youth Arts Collective has started an online Art Workshop Series consisting of projects that can be done at home or in the classroom and are appropriate for all ages.

The first in the series is the Magazine Collage Workshop , led by Marcia Perry and Raven Cook. The video lasts approximately 20 minutes. Watch for the next art video coming to YAC's YouTube channel in two weeks - All Hearts! - in which we'll create ribbon, paper and yarn heart mobiles.

Help Epsilon Restaurant Reopen

As one of Monterey's mainstays of the community, Epsilon Fine Greek Restaurant is trying to reopen its doors at 422 Tyler Street. To assist with our reopening efforts, we have launched a GoFundMe page to ask the community for your support.

After 30 years of serving the community authentic homemade Greek food, Epsilon was forced to close its doors in early November due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Once we raise enough funds to help with our reopening, we'll host an appreciation dinner for all our donors and we'll resume serving our take-out menu. When Covid restrictions are lifted, Epsilon will return to its full amazing menu and dining experience.

Community Art Project from MY Museum: What Does Your Child Love?

MY Museum misses all of you a lot and we want to try something... Please have your kid(s) decorate one heart (or several) with marker, crayons, or paint and then write something they love on it. When you're done, drop it off at MY Museum at 425 Washington Street, sticking it in between our doors.

Our staff will collect the hearts and hang them on the front window of the museum. We want to cover the windows with all that love!

MY Museum presents an engaging online conversation with New York Times bestselling author Katherine Center followed by a Q&A on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 4pm. Tickets are $20-$65. All proceeds go to MY Museum to support the nonprofit organization during its temporary closure during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Outdoor Dining, Hair Salons, Personal Services Return to Monterey

On Jan. 25, the California Dept. of Public Health announced that the recent Regional Stay-at-Home Order has lifted and regions throughout California have reentered the Purple Tier of Covid-19 restrictions.

This means that restaurants may now offer outdoor dining and hair salons, barbershops, nail salons, skin care spas, massage studios, and tattoo parlors may reopen.

The coronavirus remains prevalent, so please continue to follow the mask and social distancing protocols required by Monterey County. Be aware that most restaurants continue to offer take-out, curbside pickup, and delivery, while many retail stores welcome orders online and over the phone along with curbside pickup and shipping.
