This event has already passed
Monterey Public Library presents a free workshop by University of California Master Gardener Barbara Rae-Venter entitled Designing Your Garden: Improving Your Soil on Saturday, November 23, 10:30am-12pm in the Community Room of the Library. Registration is required here.
Get Master Gardeners’ advice for creating sustainable landscapes that benefit the broader environment and make things easier for the gardener. By adopting these practices, you can grow a healthy garden that is beautiful, in sync with nature, and less prone to problems.
For this workshop, you will need to bring 1 cup of soil collected from your garden sealed in a Ziploc bag. We will analyze the different soil samples and check them for drainage; look at potential soil amendments and how those amendments can improve the health of your soil; and discuss the living parts of your soil, how to encourage their growth, and why they are essential for healthy gardens
