Sock Knitting Class with Becky at Slowfiber

Slowfiber presents a class taught by Becky on how to knit socks from the toe up beginning on Saturday, July 9, 2pm-3:30pm and continuing on the second and fourth Saturdays of July and August. Fee is $70. Please register on Slowfiber's website.

We love hand-knit socks! Knitting socks from the toe up is great because you can try them on as you go. If you have made socks before but want to gain more control over the outcome you may really like this method. With a clever combination of many different construction "bests," Becky has found the perfect combo where fit, styling, and fun come together.

In this 4-part class (with an add-on if necessary) you will learn how to knit a toe-up worsted weight sock using the Magic Loop method. You’ll learn Judy’s Magic Cast-on to start the toe of your sock, followed by working increase rounds to form the toe. You will use the toe section to check your gauge. After knitting the foot of the sock, you will learn how to create the heel cup using German short rows. The leg of the sock is next, followed by a ribbed cuff and stretchy bind-off for a fabulous sock that fits! If time allows, you can start your second sock.
