The Golden State Theatre is hosting a screening of the documentary film Mister Candid Camera on Friday, July 29 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10-$20. For more information and to purchase tickets, please click here. An in-person Q&A with director Peter Funt will follow the screening.
The film explores the remarkable life and career of Allen Funt, the man who invented reality TV. Allen’s son Peter Funt, the film’s writer-director, said: “My father was a complex guy who was intrigued by life’s simplest things...Using the vast library of clips from ‘Candid Camera’ as well as new interviews with Carol Burnett, Howie Mandel, Sonny Fox, Fannie Flagg, and others who worked with Dad or were influenced by his work, we’ve tried to paint an honest portrait of a true TV pioneer.”
Also included are interviews with local notables including Pat Duval, the “Singing Sheriff,” Glenn Hammer, restaurateur, and John Nash, of the Seaside Greater Victory Temple.
