Critical Christmas Lighted Bike Parade is a fun, family-friendly community event organized by local resident Jim Wrona, a member of Velo Club Monterey. Bike riders decorate their bikes and gather at 5:45pm at Custom House Plaza and the ride rolls out at 6pm, traveling from Custom House Plaza along the recreation trail to Monterey Bay Aquarium and back, with possible side trips to Fisherman's Wharf and Cannery Row. The ride usually finishes around 7pm. There may be an optional trip into Downtown Old Monterey for those who wish to ride further.

Event will be canceled if it rains. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Battery powered lights are recommended.

Jim Wrona writes for Bicycling Monterey: "One goal of our local Critical Christmas is to ride either the worst bicycle you can get your hands on or a classic bicycle, decorate it with as much Christmas stuff (also known in popular culture as “bling”) as you can duct tape in place, and ride and sing your way through Monterey. The Critical Christmas motto is 'More of Everything,' which pretty much sums how much wattage you should be considering when buying those battery powered LEDs. This is, after all, Critical Christmas, where it’s not the bicycle but the decorations taped to the bicycle that really count."
