Monterey Museum of Art on Pacific Street presents a lecture by photographer Greg Mettler on Monday, March 20, 1pm-2pm. Admission is free for Museum members, $10 for all others. Register online here.
Greg Mettler uses his camera to create archives. His subjects range from nude strangers acquired on Craigslist to documenting his grandparent’s belongings after their death. His main objective is to use the lens to represent his subject matters in a new context, addressing greater social, economic or environmental issues. Originally from the Central Valley, Greg Mettler received his undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University and his Masters of Fine Arts from San Jose State University. He currently has a studio in Sand City and teaches photography and video at Monterey Peninsula College and Cabrillo College. A nationally exhibited artist, Greg continues to push himself to develop new projects that challenge preconceived notions of lens-based artwork.
