Golden State Theatre: Monterey County Pops Independence Day Concert 2015

Monterey County Pops! will present a free Independence Day concert on Saturday, July 4 at 7pm at Golden State Theatre. Tom Delay will perform on the theatre's mighty pipe organ as the audience gathers.
The 40-piece professional orchestra will perform ”Rodeo" by Aaron Copland; "American Salute” by Morton Gould; themes from "Star Wars" by John Williams; ”A Salute to the Big Bands" featuring "April in Paris," "Pennsylvania 6-5000,” and "Sing, Sing, Sing;" ”Colors of the Wind" from the movie "Pocahontas" with harpist Tara Ragsdale-Cronin and vocalist Anjela Abonico; and the haunting "Ashokan Farewell" from "The Civil War" documentary series, with violinist Betty Corner. The evening will conclude with a performance of the final portion of Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture" complete with digital church bells and cannons.
Many of the selections will be accompanied by videos created by local artist and musician Robert Danziger. "Monterey’s Family Album: What We Share" is the theme of the videos that will accompany the music on the Golden State Theatre’s big screen.
