Join the Monterey Museum of Art on Pacific Street for Claire Gendler’s Master of Fine Arts Voice Recital. This unique artistic collaboration will combine musical, visual, and movement arts in a celebration of traditional and jazz/pop works by Sir Arthur Bliss, Hugo Wolf, and others. Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for museum members.

Collaborating artists include: live movement arts by Lilith Ransom (Jain Dowe), Nick Brently, and Polly Bates; live visual arts by Sarah Gendler, Steve Javiel, Shuchita Mishra, and Kiki DeMarquez; piano accompaniment by Michael McGushin; and guitar accompaniment by Owen Kelley and Renzo Staiano.

Originally from San Jose, California, Ms. Gendler’s first instrument was the trombone, which she played from fifth grade through her undergraduate education at University of California, Santa Cruz. It was there that she discovered her love of singing and went on to earn her Bachelor of Music in Operatic Vocal Performance in 2008. Claire was later awarded a scholarship to California Institute of the Arts where she did graduate studies, also in Operatic Vocal Performance. This recital is the culmination of her graduate education. Ms. Gendler teaches voice and science in Oakland. In her spare time, Claire performs as a stilt dancer with Daring Arts Movement.
