Monterey Museum of Art: Opening Reception for "Color Duets" Exhibit

Monterey Museum of Art on Pacific Street presents an opening reception for our exhibit Color Duets, featuring the work of Kaffe Fassett and Erin Lee Gafill, on Thursday, May 14, 5:30pm-7:30pm. Admission is free for museum member, $15 for all others.
Kaffe Fassett has dedicated the last 50 years of his life to the world of knitting, needlepoint, and patchwork; promoting these crafts through his own work and encouraging others to find their own creativity. He has produced over 30 publications and tours internationally giving workshops, lectures, and museum exhibitions. In 1988 Kaffe became the first living textile artist to have a one-man show at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. He also collaborated with luxury fashion house Coach for their 2019 Fall/Winter collection and with fashion and lifestyle retailer Anthropologie for a new exhibitions in 2019’s London Design Festival. This will be his first fine arts exhibition on the West Coast and the first time his work returns home to California’s Central Coast.
Erin Lee Gafill is an award-winning artist, writer, and teacher from Big Sur. She brings her inspirational workshops to students around the country, in Italy, and in Mexico. She was the first American artist-in-residence at Hamada Children’s Museum of Art in Hamada, Japan. She was honored as a Champion of the Arts by the Cultural Council for Monterey County. She is also an artist member of the Carmel Art Association. Her memoir, Drinking from a Cold Spring, a Little Book of Hope is available through Amazon.
