Old Capitol First Friday: Tongo Eisen-Martin, Wendy Trevino, La Sofa Queen & Chloe Wilson
Friday, June 01, 2018 - 7:00pm
Old Capitol Books presents First Fridays, a monthly event of literature and art. Tonight, at 7pm, we're pleased to present poets Tongo Eisen-Martin and Wendy Trevino along with musician La Sofa Queen and artist Chloe Wilson. Suggested admission fee is $10-$20 (but no one will be turned away for lack of funds).
Old Capitol Books' First Friday works to provide a platform for young and emerging talent from Northern California. Proceeds from the event will be split among the performers and artists.
Originally from San Francisco, Tongo Eisen-Martin is an award-winning poet, movement worker, and educator. His book, Someone’s Dead Already, was nominated for a California Book Award. His latest book of poems, Heaven Is All Goodbyes, was published in the City Lights Pocket Poets Series and is currently shortlisted for the California Book Award and Griffin Poetry Prize.
Wendy Trevino was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. She lives in San Francisco, where she shares an apartment with her boyfriend, friend, and two senior cats. She has published chapbooks with Perfect Lovers Press, Commune Editions, and Krupskaya Books. Her chapbook, #YourHarveyWeinstein, was published by Spoilsport Editions in 2017. Her first full-length book of poetry, Cruel Fiction, will be published by Commune Editions in the fall of 2018.
