Salon Jane in Conversation at Monterey Museum of Art
Monday, May 07, 2018 - 1:00pm
Monterey Museum of Art on Pacific Street presents a panel discussion by the members of the group Salon Jane on Monday, May 7, 1pm-2pm. Visitors are welcome to bring food and drinks during this lunchtime lecture series. Event is free with museum admission.
Today, members of the art group Salon Jane (Robin V. Robinson, Jane Olin, Robin Ward, Martha Casanave, Susan Hyde Greene, and Anna Rheim), will talk about their individual experiences as artists and how their unique artistic challenges advance them toward the future. They will also discuss how meeting regularly as a group offers a sense of community while deepening individual artistic growth and innovation. Some will show images of their work.
Although all of these women use photography in their art, the finished products are remarkably diverse, from aerial to underwater, abstract to representational, digital to darkroom, and wall art to books. The differences among members include careers, ages, and backgrounds, but each member of Salon Jane shares a passion for expressing her deepest concerns through art.
Salon Jane; The Ethereal Zone is presented by the Monterey Museum of Art during the 2018 Year of the Woman schedule of exhibitions, September 20 - November 26, 2018.
